Why Get an Ecuador eSIM?
From confirming your Galápagos island-hopping schedule to navigating Quito's historic centre or translating at a local market, having data in Ecuador makes every day easier. With an Ecuador eSIM from Latam Travellers, you install your plan on your phone and get mobile data without hunting for SIM card shops or dealing with local paperwork.
Ecuador packs extraordinary diversity into a compact country: the Galápagos Islands, Amazonian jungle lodges, Andean peaks, and the colonial charm of Quito and Cuenca.
Ecuador eSIM Coverage
Networks: Your Ecuador eSIM connects to Movistar and Claro, with 4G data. These plans do not include 5G.
Where you'll have signal: Galápagos (Puerto Ayora)
Coverage is strongest in mainland cities and towns. The Galápagos has coverage on main islands (Santa Cruz, San Cristóbal). We cannot promise a signal in remote parts of the Amazon, so check your route before you rely on mobile data there.
Travel Tip: If visiting the Galápagos, download any important documents or maps in Guayaquil before flying, as island coverage can be inconsistent.
How Much Data Do You Need?
Our Ecuador eSIM plans are sized for every trip. Choose based on your travel style:
- Light usage (1GB to 3GB): Maps, messaging, email, occasional social media
- Moderate usage (5GB): Regular social media, video calls, ride-hailing apps
- Heavy usage (10GB and 20GB): Streaming, remote work, hotspot sharing
Ecuador eSIM FAQ
Does eSIM work in the Galápagos?
Yes. Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz) and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (San Cristóbal) have 4G coverage. Signal on boat tours and remote areas is limited.
Will I have coverage in the Amazon?
Coverage in the Amazon region is limited. Many jungle lodges rely on WiFi, so download what you need before you go.
How do I activate my Ecuador eSIM?
After you purchase, we email you your eSIM details: an SM-DP+ address and an activation code. You enter them by hand in your phone settings (iPhone: Settings, Cellular, Add eSIM, then Enter Details Manually. Android: Settings, Network, SIM, Add eSIM, then enter the details manually; menu names vary by brand). Install before your trip, enable when you land. Setup takes a few minutes.
Is my phone compatible with eSIM?
Most phones from 2020 onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Your phone must be unlocked (not locked to a carrier).
